Second Chances

There's plenty of Wall Street talent either looking for a job or in fear of the axe. However, in stark contrast, those at the helm, more often than not, are hot commodities, even in the face of failure. "What's $34 Billion on Wall Street?"--a most astounding story that appeared in the New York Times on January 27--reported that two of the banking industry's superstars (who oversaw the loss of over $34 billion at Citigroup and Merrill), are now hot properties. In fact, they're being courted aggressively for their next top spot. In this land of opportunity, humiliation and chastisement can actually result in a startling comeback, as these individuals are being given a second chance. After all, as the common wisdom dictates, it is "not the individuals who lose money; it's the system." Too bad the rank-and-file doesn't get a second chance.
